What to wear?
For the Alcatraz Behind The Scenes Tour, dress comfortably and be prepared for varying weather conditions. Here are some key tips:
- Layered clothing: San Francisco’s weather can be unpredictable, and it gets chilly on the ferry and island, especially in the evening. A light jacket or fleece is recommended.
- Comfortable walking shoes: The tour involves exploring underground tunnels, passageways, and steep inclines, so wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good grip.
- Waterproof or windproof jacket: The bay can be breezy and damp, especially at night. A windbreaker or rain jacket is a good idea.
- Hat & gloves (optional): If visiting in colder months, bring a beanie and gloves for extra warmth.
- Avoid Heels or Flip-Flops: Since you’ll be navigating uneven terrain and historic ruins, supportive footwear is a must.
With the right outfit, you’ll be ready to explore Alcatraz’s hidden secrets comfortably!
